I have been pining for a full frame for a few months, and I have just recently settled on the 6D. I am wondering why you got the Canon? The D600 out specked the 6D. I know you had Nikon and Canon, so unlike me you had a different choice to make. I have to get new and more expensive lenses either way, but my bias against Nikon go back before we met .
Hey +Jeff Matthews, yes, spec for spec, the D600 comes out on top by a bit…
For me, I've never liked the Nikon menu system,…. I started on Canon with the 10D about 10 years ago, then moved to a 50D…already had some decent Canon glass, and the Phottix Odin remote flash sync system that is Canon-specific. I don't have any Nikon stuff (what I had in the past was some film gear on loan from dad).
I hadn't really thought much about the WiFi & GPS on the 6D… but, as you can see, I think I'll really like the remote control, and I've already used the remote app a few times to get a shot quickly transferred to my phone, quick edit in Snapseed, and posted online. (Nikon does have a kludgy WiFi add-on module that doesn't seem practical for day-to-day use).
Also, Amazon had a 12-month free financing deal on the Canon gear up until Dec 31 (which is the day I ordered it).
If I were starting from ground zero, I probably would have picked the Nikon… but I'm quite pleased with the quality of pics so far, particularly with low light (quite usable stuff at 12,000 ISO! (this shot is at 2500)).
My only problem so far is not having enough spare time to use it!
C'mon IOS… I want this badly! Nice share +Dave Bell
Oh, +Joe Dolister it works exactly the same on iOS. The trick though, is that as far as I know, so far it's only available for the Canon 6D with its built-in WiFi
The low noise is what I really like. My Xsi had low noise in its day, but the tech keeps getting better. I was wanting to get a 7D, but the image quality is only a little better than what I have. Then I looked at the 5D III, and saw a definite jump in quality. I have been waiting to see where the 6D stood, and I see its very close, and the price difference has me sold. Then there's the lenses! Now to save my pennies….
