We're taking our 14-year-old niece to the Exploratorium tomorrow, and I was wondering whether it would be worth it to bring a tripod along…are there a lot interesting things to shoot, or is it pretty much all a "you've got to be there to appreciate that" kind of thing?
(I've already confirmed that they are allowed).

I have only been there once +Dave Bell but I recommend the tripod. It's a super cool museum and the grounds outside are also fabulous to photograph especially as the day ends. Enjoy!
Thanks +David Marx. Just looking at a few pics on their site makes me think I'll probably want to have it..
…now I've got to decide whether to bring the big one or the back-packable one!
yes bring your tripod, it's pretty dark in a lot of areas.
Thanks +Ron Clifford, I forgot that you just went there…
monopod? or just crank up the ISO and worry about it later in PP.
+Dean Sonneborn I've already verified that a tripod will be allowed, I just didn't know how many interesting opportunities there were (or if it's mostly things that really need to be seen in person). I'm sure I'll do some handheld with the 6D at high ISO.
