An unusually cool California summer morning made the perfect backdrop for my backyard redwood tree. It's my favorite sentinel just outside my home office window. It seems to take on a different character throughout the seasons…it's getting ready to 'shed' loads of brown fronds, something it does twice a year (which fills up my gutters!).

This shot is actually from March, but the view was identical this morning.

It seems to take on a different character throughout the seasons…it’s getting ready to ‘shed’ loads of brown fronds, something it does twice a year (which fills up my gutters!).
