As the sun and thunderclouds spend the day playing hide-and-seek, her thoughts are focused on the patterns of RGB that flash on the screen, begging to be finessed and cajoled until colors and textures fall into place, coalescing into another masterpiece.
…but she is ever aware that the sun will soon tire of the game, and slip away for a rest…and as its retreat becomes imminent, she steps outside to bid the ducks, geese, the clouds…and the sun…another good night.
Just another day on Hutton pond.

Great description of this beautiful picture!!!
Hutton pond… Now that's a great name… Cool shot with lightening for the plus… So it's like golden pond but with lightning…….
I don't do much with poetry but the pic is flippin awesome
Thank you +Sharon Stone!
+Brent Burzycki It just seemed right. Even though others live around there, I'll always think of it as 'her' pond. I got lucky with the lightning strike in the middle frame of the series.
+Robert Sutherland LOL…and I'm not much of a poet, but it seemed fitting considering the artist-in-residence there 🙂
+Dave Bell that is a wonderful work, congrats to this light.
Oh +Dave Bell, this turned out fantastically!! And that lightning strike…sigh. Love the photo, the poetry, the name and that fab evening with you and Susie.
BTW… That was the best sunset all week!
+Karen Hutton, so glad you like it! It's just how it felt to me… I am sooooooo glad we got a chance to check out the pond before dinner. It was the cherry on top of a perfect getaway…
Way to go +Dave Bell. Beautiful!!!
Hey, +Joe Dolister, wish we could have stayed long enough to see you! We have to cross paths sometime soon…
The scene of water, trees, sky is not enough, you got the lightning as well? Astoundingly amazing and gorgeous +Dave Bell , sooooo well done!
I was loving the colour play here and then i saw the lightning , awesome!
Thanks, +Debbie DeBaeremaeker, it was a delightful coincidence!

…and I should take this opportunity to thank +Ron Clifford and his cohorts at the +G+ Mentorship Program for Photographers for their great generosity to offer mentorships for aspiring photographers… and I had the privilege of going through Ron's mentorship last summer… it really helped me build my creative side.

Marvelous
Fantastic work +Dave Bell absolutely faultless, great capture and processing!
Awesome! 🙂
Amazing!!!
Quite the awesome piece of work. This is a masterpiece!!!!
As a student of photography, would love to hear a little bit about how you shot this.
Splendid!
So butiful
+Joe Cassano, I used a wide angle lens, set at about 23mm (full frame camera.. this would require about 14mm on a crop sensor). It's taken at f/22, which is not optimal for sharpness, but I wanted to get a long exposure to smooth out the water ripples (a neutral density filter would be better).
It's an HDR combined from 5 images from -2 to +2. Initial processing using Photomatix Pro, then pull all of the originals plus the Photomatix output into Photoshop and use layer masks to pull in some of the best parts of the originals. If you haven't read through +Trey Ratcliff's HDR tutorial, that's a good place to start… then you can adjust to your own style http://www.stuckincustoms.com/hdr-tutorial/
Bottom line… take a lot of photos and try a lot of things. Experimentation is a great teacher.
Breathtaking
