Glass Beach in Fort Bragg, CA is really quite amazing… instead of sand, the beach is almost entirely made up of the remnants of broken glass bottles dumped here in the early 1900s… polished smooth by decades of pounding waves.
I think it's also the perfect place to catch a lovely sunset!
My very first visit here was last night… I hope it's not my last!

I bet that has a unique sound to it over sand then +Dave Bell
And this is simply beautiful work.
Wonderful sunset.
Amazing!! Marvelous! !
Lovely!! I love me a rocky (or glassy) coastline (maybe cause we don't have them in NC). So looking forward to seeing some amazing things in CA. Might have to put that on my list if its anywhere near where we will be.
This is a beautiful shot +Dave Bell. I wasn't familiar with this beach but I think now I'd like to see it in person myself. Thanks for the introduction. 😉
+Kalebra Kelby It's the first time I've been there…. and it is a really interesting spot… After work tonight, I'm going to process one of the close-ups of the broken glass that "is" the beach…
I would love to see that image! Glass as the beach—definitely has me curious.
+Stuart Dyckhoff it sounds mostly like gravel.. but sure doesn't look like it…
Thanks for stopping by, +Michael McGimpsey +Perviz Mistry!
+Angelika Perry, unfortunately, this is about 3 hours north of Napa… the Mendocino coast is really quite lovely, though you would need to commit to staying up there to really enjoy it (and the weather is quite unpredictable… often foggy).
Uhhh… I would love some foggy and atmospheric shots but we might have to reserve that for another trip to CA +Dave Bell 🙂
Wow! I've never heard of it – verrrrry cooool +Dave Bell!!
I'm sure you'd love it, +Karen Hutton
