Christmas day, heading out to my parents' place to celebrate with other family members who live nearby…
…and on my way out the front door, I noticed the first camellia bloom had opened on the front walkway. There are many more buds yet to open, to bridge the gap between the faded colors of fall, and the flowers and leaves that will wait 'til spring.

Very very lovely!!! And I bet it smelled so dreamy too!
You know, +Tamara Pruessner, it's odd, but though these are beautiful, they seem to be completely fragrance-free!
Oh… since I can't have snow I want flowers.. so.. I'm ready for spring again +Dave Bell … Thanks for bringing us some floral during this wet, cold season here… LOL
+Dave Bell, really? I thought for sure they would have a great scent. Perhaps I am thinking that because gardenias have such a great scent that other similar flowers should too.
+Angelika Perry we could do with some precipitation of any kind…only one day that brought less than an inch of rain over a month ago, and practically nothing before that since last spring. It's beautiful weather… but reservoirs are very low and everything is bone dry. I'm ready for a good storm!
I see what I can do to send you some rain +Dave Bell We had plenty of it on the east coast and it never happened when temperatures were low enough to turn it into snow either.
