While scanning through some of my grandpa's old photos for this week's #blastfromthepast I found this one taken in the mid 1950s at Griffith Park (north of Los Angeles)
That's grandpa on the left (I'm not sure who was holding the camera), mom in the middle, and dad on the far right.
I wasn't even a twinkle in mom's eye at this point… but I do remember going to the Griffith Park observatory as a young boy in the late 1960s. I clearly recall being fascinated by the huge Foucault Pendulum which appears to slowly change its direction of swing while in actuality it is the earth turning underneath (that should make sense to the astrophotographers out there!)

Does Your Park Have a Dress Code?

That's a good looking family. I can remember seeing one of those pendulums,;)
Amazing photo looks like a really nice place too 🙂
These where the good o'le day when people dressed up to go anywhere in public. I sometimes miss these days. Especially when going out to dinner or the theater (not move theater). Most people don't seem to do that anymore.
Last time hubby took me out for a wine dinner at a local restaurant/bakery we felt very overdressed when we actually put on nice clothes and ditched the jeans… LOL
This makes me want to look for old photos and finally scan them in… :-))
Gorgeous! I love those dresses! wow
I think Griffith Park is still pretty active these days, though pretty worthless as an observatory with all the lights from LA nearby…It was used as the Visitor Center in Jurassic Park, and Arnold Scwarzenegger materialized here in 1984's Teminator.
