The Harvest is Ripe

———————————
Nothing quite like grapes picked straight from the vine.
Although most of the grapes in the Napa Valley are grown for wine, these are a table variety…generally much larger in size with little to no seed. There are dozens of varieties, and I'm not sure exactly which ones these are, but they are perfectly at their peak and practically fall off the stems into your hands.

Photosphere from Lake Alpine

——————————————-
I'm not sure if this outcropping of rock into the lake has a specific name, but it provided a perfect vantage point to take a full-circle shot of the lake. Not quite a perfect stitch, but it give you a bit of the feel of this lovely place way up high in the Sierra Mountains (7000-ft) where the average winter snowfall is about 30 feet (though certainly not this past winter!).

We're live right now

Great demo coming up using Channels in Photoshop.

Reshared post from +The Photoshop Show

+Scott Fegette joins +Ron Clifford +Jan Kabili and +Dave Bell in another information packed episode!

There is POWER in that Channels Panel

About +Scott Fegette
Sometimes I feel like Photoshop ate my life! A prerelease copy of Photoshop 1.0 blew my mind in my mid-twenties and pulled me off the road as a hard-working, traveling musician – taking odd creative jobs cleaning up photos, designing CD and book jackets, and learning how to use the rest of the computer to help support my imaging habit.  A few years later I found myself working with guru Kai Krause helping to build the Kai’s Power Tools plug-ins and imaging apps, managing his website, and editing his popular series of Photoshop channel and selection ‘power tips'.  And a few years after that I ended up landing at Adobe as a product manager, working alongside Photoshop day in and day out in my role as the PM for Dreamweaver – finally landing at the mothership myself.

About The Channels Panel
The Channels panel is one of my personal go-to panels in PS – but one that’s been misunderstood in many ways over the years – even though much of the old magic we could conjure up with it  back in the PS 3.0 era can now be achieved nondestructively with layer effects, there’s still a ton of power to be had in the Channels panel for creating and working with Photoshop selections and masks of all sorts.

Calistoga Sunset

————————–
It's quite unusual to find interesting clouds (let alone even a sprinkle) here in the Napa Valley in August. I had fun watching the sky evolve as the sun slowly slipped away.

The Promise of New Life

———————————————-
I found these fascinating translucent seed pods on a pathway near my home. I don't know what they are, but I'll certainly look to see what they look like next spring!

Waxing Crescent

—————————-
I finangled things around to figure out how to get the camera on the back of a Celestron 1400 telescope to catch larger objects (it acts like a 4000mm f/11 lens), but I'm still trying to figure out the pieces to go beyond using it as 'prime' (the camera is directly attached to the back of the scope).
Saturn looks pretty small even at this magnification.

Getting Ready for Playtime

—————————————-
Earlier this evening…heading out to play at 'my' backyard observatory (It is owned by the college where I work)….
Fun views of all sorts of celestial objects. Saturn was particularly pretty this eve.  I haven't quite worked out all the connections for hooking up the camera….but that will come before too long.
