Thistle Be It for Summer

The first classes of fall quarter start on Monday where I teach here in the Napa Valley… and a walk through our 'backyard' of 1800 acres of undeveloped forest land clearly showed that summer is on her last gasps.

Strike up the Band

————————————-
This #blastfromthepast is from about 1952… mom all spiffy in her formal band uniform. She ended up teaching flute lessons and playing in hundreds of orchestral and solo concerts for over 50 years.
The building behind is one of the dormitories which looks practically unchanged even today, as our new crop of freshmen flooded the campus for pre-quarter orientation today. On the quarter system, classes start Monday.

The bridge between your requests and questions and the Adobe engineers is our featured guest this week!

questions about "The Creative Cloud*, or the new bundle for photographers, or features, or what might be in store??

Join us Tuesday evening and meet Adobe Chief Customer Advocate Jeff Tranberry

Jeff lives and works in Minneapolis, Minnesota where Adobe has a small engineering outpost in the Twin Cities with the majority of folks working on Lightroom, Photoshop, Revel and Premiere Pro. His Main role is to focus on customer advocacy and customer engagement. "I spend about half my time engaged directly with our customers in person or through social media. You may have exchanged comments with me on Twitter, Facebook for Photoshop or Lightroom, our Community Forums for Photoshop or Lightroom, or our Feedback site.  I also work closely with all our digital imaging product development teams to add the features and tweaks I hear our customers ask for. I really enjoy working and talking with photographers and designers – and being a bridge to the engineers who pour their hearts and expertise in digital imaging science into our products. I couldn't ask to work with more passionate customers and teammates".

THE CHAT with Karen Hutton is live!!
For those of you who guessed +Nicole S. Young as my guest today… HIGH FIVE!! You are correct!!
Blog post: http://bit.ly/17DIqFz

If 'living your life as an artist' for you means doing photography as a business… then this episode is a must see! Nicole is such an inspiration of creativity force-meets-business.

I always joke that by the time I've had coffee in the morning, she's written 3 eBooks! I just love how her mind works; the artistic and business sides are best buddies. They are not in conflict, they love each other. They work with each other. They help each other. And her growing empire is the result. She inpires me every time I talk to her… and I was stoked to get to do just that on this week's episode of The Chat!

Spider Jump

——————————
It's really quite simple… On the run to meet with some friends up Las Vegas Blvd during Photoshop World. Stopped to try an HDR of the mini-Eiffel Tower… after first 3 exposures went, some cars were getting in the way, and it wasn't likely to get better soon… so I grabbed the tripod while it was still auto-bracketing… and this 10-second f/16 exposure showed up.
It's completely random…completely accidental…but I like it, and did a bit more playing with it in LR and Nik until I liked it more!
Sometimes interesting things happen all on their own. Just be on the lookout, and smile and be thankful when it happens.
Why Spider Jump?  It's just what popped into my head looking at the neon spidery thingy in the upper right corner… 😀
