Emerald Bay – Tourist's POV

——————————————
In many ways I love the fact that that practically everyone carries a camera of some sort with them these days..so many moments captured that a few years ago would have been lost to all but those who saw it happen (of course, we have a lot more mundane photos as well!).  I can't even fathom the number of images that are captured each and every day now…but sometimes they way in which they're taken gives me a smile.

Bonsai Revisited

—————————–
How many sets of photos have you taken that you never took the time to go back and play with?  This is one of those from my 50th B-day trip to Tahoe last summer, and although I wish I'd had a dark ND filter to help smooth the water a bit more, this brings back some of the great memories of that evening spent with my sweet wife shooting Bonsai Rock on the east shore.

Take a look through those old photos sometime…you might stumble on a forgotten gem.

Vikingsholm Between the Storms

——————————————————————
This 38-room mansion was built in the 1920s at the edge of Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe, California.
As the approaching storm was kicking up brisk winds, and snow began to fall, we took the mile-long trek down the trail from the parking area above and enjoyed our own private views of the bay and this stately old home. I doubt the weather would have allowed us to make the trip tomorrow.

Bonsai!!!!!

——————————–
It's a bit of a scramble down a steep bank to get to Bonsai Rock on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe… but it is well worth the climb!

Never Never Land Has Frozen Over

Last fall, I had the good fortune to spend a day on Emerald Bay hunting Captain Hook with +Annette Biggers and +Karen Hutton.

I returned today…and found that +Karen Hutton had escaped to warmer pastures in Middle Earth, hunting sheep (and balrogs)…and the Captain was nowhere to be found…

I did have fun with the ever-changing conditions this afternoon above Emerald Bay 🙂
