Well Ok…But I'll Only Pose For One Shot

—————————————–
We get the occasional California Gray Squirrel running around in our backyard redwood tree, but they're very skittish and it seems like every time I pull out the camera, they dash to the other side of the tree, then off down the hill.
I managed to get this guy to pose for one quick shot before he was off…

For the Love of Winter

—————————————–
While everything else seems to have the good sense to wait until spring, the camellias around here seem to prefer to bloom in January…
*This particular color seems to vary by particular screen/monitor more than most. It's amazing how different it looks on several of my devices.

River Respite

————————–
A #blastfromthepast  from about 1968… not sure where this is.. perhaps along the way on our cross-country trip from California to Mississippi..
Mom, my older brother…and yes, that's me on the right…
Where did that blond hair go??? I've still got plenty, but it's dark.

Dead But Not Gone

—————————-
I came across this manzanita tree on a hike up Mt Saint Helena. The trees appear to be somewhat stunted due to exposure to the elements. This one is definitely dead, but continues to cling tenaciously to the rocks.

2013 is nearly dead and gone too… but there were many amazing moments. I'm sure that if this tree could talk, it would have some stories to tell of years past (Robert Louis Stevenson used to live at the base of this mountain)…
I hope to hold onto those memories of the past year while moving ahead, full of life, into 2014.

Certainly Not "Ring-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding!"

—————————————————————————–
That's what the fox says (or so they say…)
…but this guy says Oooowwwoooooooooooo!
I shot this little coyote from my bedroom window… taking a short rest in our backyard.
The 2nd pic in the album shows standing view… but he's behind a pole that messes up the shot a bit.

First of the Season

————————————
Christmas day, heading out to my parents' place to celebrate with other family members who live nearby…
…and on my way out the front door, I noticed the first camellia bloom had opened on the front walkway. There are many more buds yet to open, to bridge the gap between the faded colors of fall,  and the flowers and leaves that will wait 'til spring.
