This pump organ has been in my family for a very long time, and sits in my living room… Occasionally, someone will give the pedals a workout to hear the reedy tunes of yesteryear.

practice required
repeated bars and D.C. al fine
the E flat I could never
remember, stretch that little
finger, make it behave, do
tricky slurs and grace notes
~
to coax these from the organ
was like pounding on felt
and my feet
unused to pumping
supplied inappropriate pace
~
so I played Evening Chimes, folk song
over and over
rang church bells
imitated angels, impressed
my pious grandfather
and demonstrated piano prowess
~

I can't believe it's been 6 weeks since I posted the previous #macromonday pic of our front yard Red Maple. This was taken today, during a short break in our first rainfall of the season.
The colors are definitely showing, but before all is said and done, the leaves will be a fire-engine red.

Perhaps technically you're not broken…
…but it doesn't matter. You're useless to me.
You just don't thrill me anymore, so I've moved on to newer, shinier, faster…
…but now I wonder… where will I end up when my own processing power and memory start to falter?
